I've taught a lot of short stories in my writing classes and have always been hard pressed in making a core list. It's difficult to come up with a list of favorites since there is so much to choose from. Nonetheless, this is it—my favorites. There is something unique and redeeming in every one of these. Peruse the list and perhaps make further recommendations. I'm always looking for something to widen my basket.
